🦛 The final carving in my 7-project woodcarving challenge — Happy Hippo! After six pieces, I was back in familiar territory: carving on instinct, letting my style take over. I didn’t follow every instruction to the letter. I skipped a few details. The eyes are a little wonky. But you know what? I love him anyway. He didn’t come out exactly like the original… but he’s still sweet. 🧸 In the last post I shared one of the less successful pieces — this one? It’s better. Still, I held back. Poor piggy… he didn’t stand a chance. 🐷 He’s one of the least successful pieces from my 7-project challenge — and honestly, it’s not even his fault! I used a bad piece of wood (a branch… why?) and tried a satin finish that made everything look flat and dull. When I first imagined this t-shirt, it felt like just a fun little idea. Then I drew it, and it became real. Then it set off. And one day… it reached @takahama23’s home. He wore it, even featured it in one of his videos, and in this photo he has that focused look with a half-sly smile only he can pull off. Me? First surprised, then a bit self-conscious… and then genuinely proud. ☺️ Because seeing it there, actually worn by someone, in his world, doing what he loves… it’s a wave of emotion...
