Alfio Garozzo, Cretto di Burri or Burri’s Crevice is what remains of the seventeenth-century town of Gibellina in western Sicily's Trapani region, that following a massive earthquake was razed to the ground. Its giant slabs of concrete follow the paths of the town’s streets and alleys, and when it was created by artist Alberto Burri it was the largest piece of outdoor sculpture in the world.
