A NECKLACE OF TWELVE ROMAN RINGSTONES CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.-2ND CENTURY A.D. Mounted together in a Victorian gold setting. [Cross posted from Ancient Jewelry]
This necklace was found on the neck of the deceased; as the symbol of the soul, the butterfly was an appropriate motif for a burial gift. Gold, amethyst, chalcedony, emerald, rock crystal, pearl, and colored glass Greek, late 2nd-1st century BC.
