Lidia Bastianich, acclaimed tv chef, best-selling cookbook author & restaurateur, has lived the American Dream. Her family escaped from Pola, Istria (present day Croatia) when she was 11 years old. Married at 19 & raising a child, she opened an Italian restaurant called Buonovia, meaning “on the good road” in Forest Hills, Queens. When she opened her 3rd restaurant, she became one of the 1st female chefs to receive a 3-star review from the New York Times.
