Osvaldo Licini, (1894-1958) Self-Portrait. Licini's abstract work is singularly distinct from other Italians of his time. His abstract painting and poetry are both powerfully lyrical. His work was freed from the cage of the geometric rationalism through color, imagination and an indication of a coming climate of the Expressionism. In this way his work can be said to parallel that of Paul Klee.
