This pattern is based on the original illustrations of Mr. Toad from The Wind in the Willows. I tried to make the piece resemble ink-pen and watercolor like the original. If you want to, you can omit the background as shown in the second image. This pattern is intended to be stitched on white-white fabric. This pattern is available for instant download! MEASUREMENT GUIDELINES: * This pattern can be used with any even-weave / Aida fabric. Remember to purchase enough fabric to allow at least a couple inches margin on the edges. * Pattern Dimensions: 136 stitches wide by 185 stitches tall * For 16 stitches per inch fabric, the finished project measures: 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) wide by 11.6 inches (29.4 cm) tall * For 14 stitches per inch fabric, the finished project measures: 9.7 inches (24.7 cm) wide by 13.2 inches (33.6 cm) tall * For 12 stitches per inch fabric, the finished project measures: 11.3 inches (28.8 cm) wide by 15.4 inches (39.2 cm) tall DETAILS: * Difficulty Level: Easy. Appropriate for someone's second or third project. * Back-stitch?: No. * Half Stitches or Other Specialty Stitches?: No. * Number of DMC Colors: 11 * Total Number of DMC Skeins Needed: 11 * Pattern pages should be printed on 8 ½ x 11 paper. * Included Files: color pattern, b&w pattern, color large-print pattern, b&w large-print pattern. (Large print patterns will use up more printer paper and ink, so they are only recommended for people with poor eyesight or who typically wear reading glasses.) * De-speckling (Confetti) and Minimization of Threads: When I am creating my cross-stitch patterns, I try to group stitches of a particular color together so it's easier to stitch. I know it's annoying to start a new thread just to stitch one speck and then weave back in. As much as possible, I've tried to avoid this. I also try to minimize the number of thread colors required, without sacrificing detail. (Beware of sellers who don't tell you ahead of time how many colors are required to complete a pattern!) * This Listing Includes: A PDF computer file containing the pattern. The pattern will include a color image of the completed project, the pattern itself, and a legend which lists the colors and lengths of the DMC embroidery floss you will need to purchase. * This Listing Does Not Include: Instructions on how to cross-stitch, embroidery floss, cross-stitch fabric or Aida cloth, cross-stitch needles, or a physical print-out of the pattern. Remember that most office stores offer inexpensive quality printing services in color as well as black and white. * You Will Need: The colors and quantities of DMC embroidery floss indicated on the pattern, cross-stitch fabric (even weave) or Aida cloth of your choice, a cross-stitch needle, access to a home printer or a Kinkos store, and a basic knowledge of how to cross-stitch and back stitch. The embroidery floss length estimates for each color assumes that you are making 14 stitches per inch. If your stitches are smaller, you'll need less floss; if your stitches are larger, you will need more floss.
