French Art Bronze Desk Plaque - Horses in Gallop - by Pichard of Saumur, France - Equine Decoration - Equine Theme - Decorative Plaque - D2

A highly Collectable object in very good condition, we are unsure of the exact casting year of this beautiful bronze plaque depicting the heads of three horses in gallop. The makers, Pichard SA, are from Saumur in the Loire Valley in France, the home of the French Military Cavalry School and the Cadre Noir horses, famous for their precise Military Dressage. Measuring 9.5cm x 6.5cm (3.75" c 2.5") and weighing 234 grammes, the plaque is at the latest from the nineteen seventies and comes with its own stand to allow upright freestanding display. It is hand finished as a work of art and would be a treasured gift for any horse lover, a follower of the Cadre Noir or any type of horse racing. Marked on the edge with the words 'Pichard', 'Bronze FL' meaning it is has been struck in a traditional Florentine Bronze that is only used for the best Medals and other such high end pieces; the method of production and hand finished patination means that this piece is unique. The Artistry in the sculpture is amazing and has captured the sense of these majestic animals - famous in the region of Saumur, home to the French Army Cavalry School and the world renowned Cadre Noir Equestrian Show Centre. The Velvet-feel moulded box contains the plaque, the Perspex stand and a small card describing the object and giving its provenance.
