Classifying Quadrilaterals - Color by Number

Identifying and classifying quadrilaterals can be challenging! Color by code activities are a great way to engage students and get them excited to practice classifying quadrilaterals. This activity provides engaging practice for students learning about the hierarchy of 2 dimensional shapes (quadrilaterals). In the first picture, students are presented with various shapes and asked to identify the name that best describes the shape. For example, a square is also a rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, and quadrilateral. For this activity, the term square best describes a shape that had 4 equal sides and 4 right angles. The color by number sheet presents terms, definitions, and examples of shapes to support students learning. In the second picture, students are asked 12 true or false statements, (Ex. Some rhombuses are squares. True or False). Students must evaluate statements to determine the validity of each statement.
