Medial lenticulostriate arteries Branches of the A1-segment of the anterior cerebral artery. They supply the anterior inferior parts of the basal nuclei and the anterior limb of the internal capsule. Lateral lenticulostriate arteries Branches of the horizontal M1-segment of the middle cerebral artery. They supply the superior part of the head and the body of the caudate nucleus, most of the globus pallidus and putamen and the posterior limb of the internal capsule

Medial striate and lateral striate arteries off ACA and MCA respectively.

Pupillary dilation is regulated by a descending pathway from the hypothalamus. The pathway courses through the lateral part of the brain stem, to the sympathetic preganglionic neurons in the first three segments of the thoracic intermediolateral cell column. These cells project to the superior cervical ganglion from which sympathetic axons run along the carotid artery to the orbit, where they innervate the pupillodilator muscle in the iris.

The left transverse venous sinus is also smaller because the smaller, "inferior sagittal sinus" tends to drain to the left. The larger, "superior sagittal sinus" tends to preferentially drain to the right. Normal variant brain asymmetry is called "petalia" because the impression of the brain on the skull looks like the imprint of a flower "petal."
