7th Century. This art displays a wonderful example of a tablion, decorative patches placed on paladementums, on St Demetrios. This particular tablion represents the senatorial class that is displayed across his chest. This mosaic is named St Demetrios with children. It is part of a rare collection of mosaics from the Byzantine period that survived the iconoclast demise.
