#8 CraterFace

This box, aptly named craterface, is the eighth box I have made since I began woodworking. When I discovered my Father's old Foredom I quickly got the urge to play with power carving.

A domed top jewellery box veneered with figured maple, 10" x 8" x 4" decorated in dyed veneers. The escutcheon is formed from four harlequins - I often do this design with the keyhole cut into the top harlequin. However, for the purposes of balance as this box was relatively low, the escutcheon actually overlaps the lid margin and it made sense on this occasion for the keyhole to be in the bottom one. French polished.

japanese box

I saw this design by Gary Rogowski in the 1999 Nov/Dec issue of FWW. In my version I changed the dimensions and added ebony plugs at the corner lap joints. The main wood is bubinga with a maple bottom for a light effect .

Box 38 - MEK Woodworks

Box 38 took a long time to make, at least compared to the first From beginning to end, I spent two weeks on it. Six little dovetailed drawers with seven little ring pulls.
