Joan Crawford married Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. on June 3, 1929 at St. Malachy's Roman Catholic Church in New York and spent their honeymoon at the Algonquin Hotel. By the end of 1930, she had fallen in love with Clark Gable, and by the end of 1932, she filed for divorce. On May 12, 1933 the divorce became final, but Joan and Doug stayed cordial to each other for the rest of their lives. She went on to marry three more times. None of her marriages lasted more than four years.
