Earlier this week, the New York Public Library posted an online collection of long lost Great Depression-era photos taken by Farm Security Administration photographers including Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans.
Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston marathon. After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer went after Switzer shouting. However, other male runners provided a protective shield during the entire marathon.
