New London Harbor, CT  I played on the beach and ate raw clams~ in the 40's. The Navy wives shared one large room, in an old inn, with individual stoves and tables.

Description: On November 2nd, 1820, the USS Alligator, the newest member of the fledgling U.S. Navy, was launched at Boston. Measuring 86 feet from bow to stern, the schooner was outfitted with twelve guns to provide a little authority.
