The pony express station in Gothenburg, Nebraska was built in 1854 near Fort McPherson and was first used as a trading post and ranch house. It served as a pony express station from 1860-61. In 1931, the building was moved from its original site to its current location in Gothenburg's Ehmen Park. It is now operated as a museum.
