Farrs - John and Jenny Makepeace This beautiful garden in Beaminster in Dorset belongs to artist Jenny and world famous furniture designer John. It was open yesterday. I wanted to go especially for the clipped Phillyreas and Yew but there was so much more to see. It was open under the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) which allows the terminally nosy like me glimpses of the incredible gardens here in the UK. #gardens #gardening #sculpture

Mapperton is a perfect valley garden near Beaminster in West Dorset. There's an Italianate garden with grottoes and stone birds and fountains. There's a summer house, orangery and a wild garden. There's also the traces of a 17th century parterre discernible when the weather is very dry. The house is in the private ownership of the Earl & Countess of Sandwich. It is well worth a visit. Photography by J. M. van der Putten. Distance from Shaftesbury to Mapperton is 34 miles.

Oedo Botania is an island in South Korea that’s been cultivated since 1963 by Korean couple Lee Changho and Choi Hosook; it’s the first island in Korea ever to be owned and developed by an individual. Every inch of this island is abloom with gardens and punctuated by statues.
