Jazz Legend, Ron Carter!!!

While The Work Of Fellow Jazz King And Former Bandmate Herbie Hancock Grows Bigger And Bigger By Way Of Pop Collaborations, Bassist Ron Carter's Late-Career Work Whittles The Genre Down To Its Bare Essentials.

Ron Carter hails from Ferndale where he began studying cello. He then went to Cass Tech High School in Detroit where he was urged to take up bass because a black man had no future in classical music. He eventually earned a Master's Degree in double bass performance at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. He has made over 2500 recordings on bass and cello.

Ron Carter - seen him perform at Blue Note NYC in 2014...best Jazz performance I ever heard, witnessed, and felt

One of the graetest alive bass players in world. He worked with many Jazz giants in mid sixties. And I loved his music in Miles Davis new quintet: Davis,Shorter,Hancock,Carter & Williams.
