The Sets of Les Misérables

THE SETS OF LES MISÉRABLES Through dramatic set design and a pitch-perfect cast, the legendary story of a nation in turmoil comes to vivid new life in Hollywood’s adaptation.

Greenwood and Spencer took inspiration from the design styles of the venerable British firm Colefax and Fowler, spending hours searching through chintz fabrics for the perfect florals to convey the movie’s time period—prewar Britain at the peak of summer. The drawing room walls were painted arsenic-green, the kitchen was outfitted in cream tones, and the upstairs rooms were treated with light, flowery motifs.

Dearest Cecilia, the story can resume. The one I had been planning on that evening walk. I can become again the man who once crossed the Surrey park at dusk, in my best suit, swaggering on the promise.
