The Temple of Kom Ombo is an unusual double temple built during the Ptolemaic dynasty in the Egyptian town of Kom Ombo. The building is unique because its 'double' design meant there were courts, halls, sanctuaries & rooms duplicated for 2 sets of gods. The temple was started by Ptolemy VI Philometor (180-145 BC) at the beginning of his reign & added to by other Ptolemys, most notably Ptolemy XIII (51-47 BC), who built the inner and outer hypostyle halls. The Osirion, also known as "The Tomb of Osiris". Attributed to Seti I, is located near his temple at Abydos and believed to have been constructed during the 18th dynasty. A unique structure in egyptian architecture, bearing resemblance to the Old Kingdom Valley and Sphinx Temples at Giza, there remains disagreement as to its true age and function. It is the only egyptian temple to have been built below ground.
