SWAN EGG ART - A Hungarian artist , Csuhaj Tunde was born in 1954, she graduated studies in ceramics at the University of the Arts , Pecs, Hungary. Since 1990, she has decorated geese, swan, emu, rhea and ostrich eggs and has produced astonishing Easter eggs. Her techniques are mainly etching, drilling and painting.
"Pride" Emu Egg. No paint is involved in any of these pieces. The normal emu shell has at least three major color layers that are revealed as one cuts into them. The outside layer is usually so dark a green that it looks black. Beneath that is a teal layer and then if you go deep enough there is a very thin layer of white. It is so thin that I usually tell my students that they have to carve it "as if they were petting a butterfly with a feather." Enjoy!
