The Mistresses of Joe Cain, a Mardi Gras mystic society representing the many lovers of Cain, drink to console themselves during the "procession" parade on Joe Cain Day, Mobile, Alabama, United States, 2012, photograph by Wesley Lowe. In addition to his many wives, the Joe Cain Day parade is today also flanked by his many mistresses. Both groups, flagellating in the streets as they caterwaul over who was Cain's favorite, vie to be the most-loved, sometimes leading to entertaining fights.
