It was only when the photographer looked at this picture later that she spotted this great horned owl had a baby, tucked tightly into the feathers on its tummy. It was taken by wildlife photographer Marina Scarr in Fort De Soto Park, Florida
The Eurasian Eagle-Owl is a very large, powerful bird, smaller than the Golden Eagle but larger than the Snowy Owl. It's often called the world's largest owl, tho the Blakiston's Fish Owl is slightly heavier and the Great Grey Owl is slightly longer.
The NORTHERN HAWK-OWL is a non-migratory owl that usually stays within its breeding range, though it sometimes irrupts southward. It is one of the few owls that is neither nocturnal nor crepuscular, being active only during the day.
