Hundreds of years ago, Ute Pass Colorado was a trail the Ute Indians would take to hunt and travel between their winter and summer camps. It later became a wagon trail carrying supplies to the gold fields during the Colorado gold rush.

Conestoga Wagon. A fanciful nick-name was the 'Prairie Schooner'.  Late 1800s.

The Conestoga and the Prairie Schooner are two different wagons. The Conestoga was much too heavy and unmanageable to ford rivers and haul over rocks and mounts where there were no roads like in the east.
