Technical drawing of the 14th-century fighting shield that was found in Dordrecht. This object has only been drawn so far, no detailed study has been done yet. So, we have no further information about the wood that was used ect. Furthermore, the original thickness of the shield is unknown; due to corrosion. As far as I could see, the shield was made entirely from iron and except from the wood handle there are no signs of leather or wood covering of the front side of back side.
