A hypothetical reconstruction of how certain regalia found within Mound 1, Sutton Hoo may have been worn. As a pedagogical exercise this has a lot of interest and value, but an archaeologist I am unhappy with many aspects, including the over-sized 'shoulder clasps' the support strap and fittings for the purse belt, and the over all nature of the scabbard suspension.
The strap-mounts, buckles, and other fittings as discovered in situ, linked up to show their association. Taken from The Sutton Hoo Ship Burial, Vol. II, I am not entirely happy with this attempted reconstruction and association of materials.
