Troops of the RSI Littorio division ready for a mission on the Gothic line. Note the German flamethrower m41. Anyway some of these flamethrowers were already acquired by the Regio Esercito before the armistice, so it's possible it doesn't come from a new supply for the Republican army.

SS-Brigadeführer Kurt Meyer (Kommandeur 12. SS-Panzer-Division "Hitlerjugend")
The Fallschirmjager, the German paratroopers of World War 2, made the first airborne infantry assaults in history when Germany invaded Western Europe in 1940, with gliders and capturing strategic positions. A year later, in May 1941, in their greatest operation, they invaded and conquered the island Crete in the Mediterranean solely by airborne troops. Their losses were such that Hitler decided never to do another large airborne operation again.
