Today is December 7th. On this date in 1941, the Japanese attacked the U.S. Naval station at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The following day, President Franklin Roosevelt addressed Congress referencing the "day that will live in infamy." A video of his speech is attached.

In September 1940 the first peacetime draft law in U. history had been passed.authorizing the registration of 17 million men. In August and September 1941 U. merchant vessels were armed for self defense.
