On this day 26th August,1819 Prince Albert (Albert of Sade-Coburg-Gotha) was born in Bavaria. Consort of Queen Victoria he persuaded her towards more progressive views in some areas, took a keen interest in the arts, and organized the Great Exhibition of 1851 in the Crystal Palace (Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha by Franz Xaver Winterhalter.)

Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel; later the Prince Consort; 26 August 1819 – 14 December was the husband of Queen Victoria.
