Well, I guess the Pope thinks Twitter is safe enough. But he won't be using social media for small talk. According to a Vatican official, the Pope's tweets will be considered "a papal teaching.... The message is just entrusted to a new technology.”The Vatican also reported, "The pope’s account will not have special security, the Vatican said, but precautions have been taken to make sure his certified account is not hacked."

Though he has not sent out a tweet yet, he has accumulated 150,000 followers. The words of the Pope will now be more accessible to an increasingly technology-reliant society. - Lauren W.
