Many years ago I bought this sword in a British antique store and carried it with me on the plane back to the US. I don't think it'd make it through the security checkpoints today, but I could be wrong.
Officer of the Imperial Guard Grenadier Horse's sword. In any case it did belong to an Heavy Cavalry Officer from Napoléon Army, dated from October 1811 / Сабля офицера конногренадер гвардии Наполеона.
Ottoman shamsir, century, curved cm in. Brass crossguard of characteristic form. Horn gripscales, the silver sidestraps chased with florals. Green leather-covered scabbard, the brass mounts chased with floral borders.
