c. 1780-90: BALLYGARVEY VOLUNTEERS OFFICER'S SHOULDER BELT PLATE An extremely good officer's shoulder belt pate. Engraved with the crowned Maid of Erin harp surrounded by the words Liberty and Property" and scrolls above and below containing the name of the regiment. Scarce.
Cabra Castle Infantry An unrecorded pewter oval cross-belt badge, inscribed 'Cabra Castle, Infantry' around the royal monogram GR, 7.5cm. A volunteer regiment raised by Mervyn Pratt. This is the old Cabra (now Dun na Ri) and in the forest park are still to be seen the ruins of the barracks for the regiment.

Surrounded and surmounted by Royal Cypher and above the date 1796". Scrolls above and below containing the name of the regiment. Reverse with double stud and single hook.
