image source The Araripe manakin (Antilophia bokermanni) is a critically endangered bird from the family of manakins (Pipridae). It was discovered in 1996 and scientifically described in The species epithet commemorates Brazilian zoologist.
Found in south-east Queensland, south to Tasmania, across Victoria to the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. Generally within 200 kms from the coast. Also up the Murray River and Lachlan River in New South Wales.
The Tomtit (Petroica macrocephala) is a small passerine bird in the family Petroicidae, the Australian robins. It is endemic to the islands of New Zealand, ranging across the main islands as well as several of the outlying islands.
