Gnathian Ware Prochous. This black pouring vessel is decorated with geometric and laurel leaf patterns in white, yellow and red.  Vases painted using this technique are called gnathian ware. The name gnathian originates from the site of Ignazia where the style may have come from. The style is characterized by black- glazed sufaces with polychrome decoration in red, white, and yellow.There are two molded heads at either side of the spout. Circa Date: 350 B.C.

The obverse with a cock in profile to the left, standing on a dotted groundline, the feathers, crown and wattle in added yellow, with two rosettes in the field, framed on either side by spiraling tendrils, a band of dotted egg-pattern above; the reverse with two sprays of ivy descending at an angle from either side; the lug handles molded in the form of lion heads, 26 cm high.
