Pedicellaria : appendage of sea urchin, ( genus sperosoma : coated / calcified : 100 x magnification  ). Pedicellariae are positioned on moveable stalks and are distributed between the spines and tube-feet of sea-urchins. Some of the collagen in the pedicellaria is of the “catch” type, that is, it is at one moment stiff and supportive and, at the next, soft and flexible.
