"A rare example of headwear from the 18th century, the large size of this snood reflects the sizable, sometimes extremely large, hairstyles worn during the period.... Although this snood is English, it demonstrates how closely English fashion followed French styles." [Anyone know what this would have been called in the period? I believe "snood" is a 19th century term.]
