Today is the birthday of Thomas Cranmer, a man born on 2 July 1489 who later became the Archbishop of Canterbury. Cranmer was a leader in the English Reformation during the reigns of Henry VIII and Edward VI. After the accession of the Catholic Queen Mary I, Cranmer was arrested and eventually executed as a heretic according to the Roman Catholic Church.

In 1918, Malone established Poro College in north St. Louis, a trade  school to train beauticians and barbers as well as secretaries & bookkeepers to work on the marketing side of the business.
