Roman Forum of Rome reconstruction: Temple of Saturno and Temple of Concordia

*AUGUSTUS (63BC-14CE) was the founder of the Roman Empire. He was a son of Atia Balba Caesonia, & inherited the celebrated Caesar name from his great-uncle (& rumored lover) Julius. Augustus was always insecure about his rich but plebeian genealogy. He adopted Tiberius, the unrelated son of his aristocratic 3rd wife, but after Tiberius' death, hereditary rule reverted through Augustus' 2nd wife, Scribonia, & through his sister, Octavia the Younger.

Augustus Caesar (born Gaius Octavius) was the first Emperor of Rome, who assumed rule 17 years after Julius Caesar assassination. Along with Mark Antony, he conquered the senatorial armies and ruled the West portion of the then-growing Roman Empire.
