Katherine Hackl's brushwork pottery is hand–thrown from a fine porcelain clay. Imagery focuses on a food crops, botanical motifs, and animals. She uses traditional Japanese brushes to apply strong black and light washes of grey on the porcelain.
Three espresso cups, using the three different slips we use at Maze Hill Pottery on the functional ware. There's an incredible amount of variation from each firing and no two pieces will ever be identical, in terms of glaze quality.
