'The family never cared for me and they hated my mother. She was a dancer and a singer with a terrific voice she’d inherited from her mother, and the relatives hated her because she was magnificent.' –Little Edie

Edie at the LVIS Fair, 1940. Edie had a proof of this Bert Morgan photograph in her archives and we see the camera scan it in the original Grey Gardens documentary. Here it is in the NY paper and we learn who her friends were. This was the year she briefly dated Serge Obolensky, Eugene's uncle, and the first time she was nearly Countess Edith. Note the Farmington daisies on Edie's white shoes. Always white shoes, and she loved her Farmington daisy motif.
