Rare American Federal Red, White &  Blue Paint-Decorated Lift-Top Chest probably Southern states, underside of lid initialed & dated "IS/1803", white pine throughout, hinged lid with open interior with till & hidden compartment, front boldly painted with central heart flanked by spread-wing federal eagles, sides with white crescent moons on red ground, interior floor of bottom board with two inscribed peacock designs, 24 x 49-1/4 x 21 in.

Sold $2,200 Lebanon County, Pennsylvania painted pine dower chest, ca. 1810, with an ochre sponge decorated ground with diamond surround, above three green sponged drawers supported by bracket feet, 28 1/2'' h., 51'' w.  Condition  Original hardware. Lacking center drawer brass. Repaired break to edge of one drawer. Repaired breaks and losses to lid molding. One rear foot ended out 1".
