This year plant Persian Shield (Strobilanthes dyerianus) in pots or in the ground. It is a perennial in USDA Zones 8-11. In colder climates, it can be grown as a summer annual. The iridescent purple leaves shimmer and the leaves feature bold green stripes along the veins. Persian shield can grow tall but you should keep pinching it to keep it bushy. In pots, pair with silver plants like artemisia or chartreuse plants like 'Margarita' ornamental sweet potato.
