Field Marshall Al Kesselring was among the quietest and most brilliant of the German generals in WW2. He initiated the smashing German successes in Russia and Africa and when the tides turned for Germany, he fought the Allies to standstill in Italy. He managed to save a large coherent and supplied Germany army until the very last days of the war. In the last weeks he became commander in chief of all German armies left in the south, probably 1 million men. He died in 1960, a hero to his men.

I spent a summer researching and writing a fifteen page paper on this guy...Erwin Rommel, The Desert Fox, Commander of German forces in North Africa 1942. He treated prisoners humanely and refused to kill Jewish prisoners. Forced to commit suicide to save his family because of his part in an assassination attempt on Hitler.

Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel was born. in November 1891 in Heidenheim an der Brenz. He was the youngest German field marshal (Generalfeldmarschall) during World War II

Maximilian Maria Joseph Karl Gabriel Lamoral Reichsfreiherr von Weichs zu Glon was a German field marshal who participated in the invasion of Poland and Barbarossa. During the Battle of Stalingrad, Weichs warned that the German lines were dangerously stretched to no avail. He served until the end of the war and was excluded from war crimes trials because of his ill health. He died in 1954.
