Torvosaurus at Thanksgiving Point 1 Prev Next "savage lizard" Late Jurassic Period (about 150 million years ago) A large meat-eater, Torvosaurus is not as well known as Allosaurus but lived during the same time and was just as deadly. It closely resembles certain dinosaurs from Europe, such as Megalosaurus. Torvosaurus is found in a layer of rock called the Morrison Formation in Colorado and Wyoming.
The dire wolf was one of the abundant Pleistocene megafauna—a wide variety of large mammals that lived during the Pleistocene. Approximately years ago the dire wolf became extinct along with most other North American megafauna.
