March 7, 1966     The SF/CIDG camp at the abandoned Pacoh village of A Shau (namesake for the entire valley), which is now the last remaining camp of three that were established in 1964-65 to counter an 1964 enemy buildup in the valley that presaged an eventual attack on the city of Hue, is reinforced with a mobile strike force of 143 Nung tribesmen from the 5th US SF Group at Nha Trang, bringing the total number of defenders up to 434 men under arms

July 27, 1967     The enemy attacked the Phuoc Vinh base camp and airfield with 137 rounds of 122mm rocket and 82mm mortar fire. Results are 2 enemy killed, 12 US killed and 72 US wounded. There was light equipment and materiel damage.
