December 14, 1476: Death of Vlad the Impaler, also known as "Dracula", or "Son of the Dragon." After his assassination his head was taken to Constantinople, and his body -- according to tradition -- was buried at the monastery at Snagov. In 1933, the supposed grave site was dug up, and under the stone "there was no tomb. Only many bones and jaws of horses." He may have been buried elsewhere -- or perhaps there's another explanation?
