Queen Elizabeth (1936). Built as a running mate to Queen Mary, the first Queen Elizabeth began her life as a troop ship during WWII. During the war, she carried more than 750,000 troops and sailed over 500,000 miles. Following the war, she commenced her role as transatlantic ocean liner, which lasted until the late 50s when she began sailing between New York and Nassau. Cunard continued to operate Queen Elizabeth until her retirement in 1969.
