1st grade lupine flowers for spring. Show images of lupines and excerpts of Miss Rumphius book. First use chalk pastels on the paper. Then scribble on oil pastels onto the background. Add a green paint stem. Dip thumbs into paint to make lupine flowers. When dry, use a black permanent marker to circle around each "flower" which makes gives depth to the final product. Miss Rumphius spread lupine seeds across the countryside to make the world more beautiful.

Fine Lines: Springtime Lupines made with child's thumbprints. Great project to go with "Miss Rumphius" by Barbara Cooney
