Irish tradition: The placing of a lighted candle in the window of a house on Christmas eve is still practised today. It has a number of purposes but primarily it was a symbol of welcome to Mary and Joseph as they traveled looking for shelter.

This is like happiness in one perfect little picture. Autumn nights don't have to mean staying indoors - I'm going to take inspiration from this picture and spend some of the cooler evenings in our little city garden before it gets too cold.
