Another 6-inches into the shade image. Try it! Put your subject six inches into shade. No further, no closer. Makes skin glow flawlessly and eyes pop out!

Asking children to express their emotions in Photography is a better way of getting them to pose than demanding that they sit still and perform boring tasks. I have learned this during Expression Sessions. Credit: Darah Soria Photography Wichita Falls Photographer

The 6-inch rule. A trick I love to use in photography is placing my subject exactly 6 inches from the line between sunlight and shade (on the shade side). It's easy - however you have to be careful. One inch further into the shade and you lose the glow and catch lights. One inch closer to the light and areas of harsh light begin to appear on the subject. Try it! This is why car-selfies look so good.

Creative headshot. Photography uses opposite colors to make image more inviting. Color theory is essential in creating beautiful headshots that are still professional and appealing. Always twist subjects head so it's not straight on and boring.

Nightclub photography tip: use an extremely slow shutter speed + minimum flash level. A slow shutter speed captures backlighting better than a faster speed. Use the 1/20 second long exposures to your advantage. 1/20 sounds scary, right?! Wrong. Your flash will freeze time during a longer exposure. Photography using creative lighting, frame within a frame and depicting time. The focus is on the shadow rather than the subject. The subject is in motion. There is a frame around the subject via the tree's shadow. The image was taken during the golden hour (sunset) with the sun to the subject's back so that it would project an awesome silhouette! Pay close attention to shadows in your photographs. They can be as important as the subject. Darah Soria Photography | Wichita Falls Photographer

There's this really silly rule about having "no wide angles" in portraiture. To that I say, screw the rules. This image was taken with a wide angle, extremely small aperture and was purposely underexposed to get the beautiful sunset, and to get as much of it as possible. :-)

Wide Angle Portraiture. Nothing wrong with use of wide angle once in awhile. When the sky takes up a large portion of the image, a narrower aperture can can be beautiful to look at. Dead white space can be boring. For this image we used a wider angle, small aperture and a low vantage point.
