Pincer Grip Activities

These activities develop control over the pincer grip.  You can see that there is a graduation in the level of skill required - first using large tongs to transfer pompoms to a bowl, next using sugar cube tongs to transfer beads between bowls, and then using tweezers to transfer small flat shapes to a bowl.

"While this activity is great for toddlers learning fine motor skills, this same repetitive task would help me with my left arm. I have little use of the arm or hand and it's difficult to use my fingers. I do daily physical therapy to keep the circulation going and muscle alive--this would be a great short exercise to add. And I already know it's going to be tough."
